About

A small studio with a narrow definition of success

Truth Ocean builds software that protects people. We measure a product by whether it actually helped someone, not by how much of their attention or data we managed to capture.

Why the studio exists

Most consumer software is funded by watching you. The business model requires collecting behaviour, building a profile, and monetising attention — and once that is the model, every product decision bends toward it. Even apps genuinely trying to help end up shipping an analytics SDK, an account system, and a server that holds far more about you than the feature needed.

There is a category of software where that trade is unacceptable: tools people install precisely because they are in a vulnerable position. A parent protecting a child. Someone trying to break a compulsive habit. A filter of that kind necessarily sees things nobody should have to hand over to a company. Building it the normal way would mean asking for trust that no privacy policy can really justify.

So Truth Ocean builds the other way. If a feature can run on the device, it runs on the device. If data does not need to be collected, it is not collected. That constraint rules out a lot of easy revenue — and it is the entire point of the studio.

What we build

One app at a time, properly.

  • ScreenBlock — Android

A real-time explicit content filter that analyses the screen with an on-device AI model and covers explicit imagery the moment it appears, in any app. Free, works fully offline, PIN-locked, and collects nothing. Currently in closed beta on Google Play. Learn more →

  • What's next

We would rather ship one thing that works than five that nearly do. The next product will be announced when it is genuinely ready — and it will follow the same rules as the first.

How we build

Four commitments, applied to every product:

  • On-device by default

Local processing is the starting assumption. Sending data to a server is a last resort that has to be justified, not the default architecture.

  • Collect nothing

No analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no behavioural telemetry, no crash reporters that capture user content. The safest way to protect data is never to hold it.

  • Free where it matters

Tools that protect children and people in vulnerable moments should not sit behind a paywall. ScreenBlock is free and requires no account.

  • Say what the software actually does

Safety software attracts inflated claims. Where a tool has limits, we write them down — including on the pages where a stronger claim would sell better.

What we will not do

Being explicit about this is more useful than a values statement:

  • Sell, share, or monetise user data — there is none to sell.
  • Add covert monitoring or surveillance features to a protection tool.
  • Upload screen content, browsing activity, or usage logs to a server.
  • Put core safety functionality behind a subscription.
  • Claim a filter is infallible. No content filter is, including ours.
